What does superior mean?
Special forms of classification in the Hotelstars Union
The Hotelstars Union has added two special categories (Garni & Superior) to the 1 to 5 star categories, allowing for a more differentiated assessment of the services offered by each hotel. These two categories go beyond the simple star rating system and make it easier for travellers to find the hotel that best suits their needs. You can find out more about hotels with Garni and Superior ratings here.

Definition Hotel Superior
The term ‘Superior’ was introduced for the top establishments in each category, distinguished by their particularly high level of service.
Establishments that are allowed to use this designation alongside their stars achieve the required total points for the next higher category, but cannot be classified there because they do not meet the minimum criteria for the next higher category.
Businesses that are allowed to display the ‘Superior’ designation on their certificate and highlight it in their advertising have therefore significantly exceeded the number of points required for the respective category.
