On January 1st, 2015, the updated criteria catalogue of the Hotelstars Union is put into force. On the basics of a European guest survey and market studies the criteria were modernised putting a stronger emphasis on sleeping comfort, connectivity and security.
For almost a year representatives of the members states of the Union deliberated on the catalogue. “Hoteliers do not have to expect surprises or structural breaks”, says Andrea Kopócsy, chairwoman of the classification committee of the Hotelstars Union (HSU). “In order to keep up with societal developments and trends, however, greater consideration has been given to the quality of hotel beds, security and sustainability as well as on the hotels’ websites and the guests’ access to the internet.”
The new version of the criteria catalogue 2015 – 2020 is now available for download. It goes along with a continuation of the success story of the HSU family. In the meanwhile, 15 states have become members. Besides the original member countries Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland also Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Malta have joined the HSU.
Hotelstars Union
Under the patronage of HOTREC – Hospitality Europe - the hotels associations of Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland have created the Hotelstars Union. In the meantime Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Malta joined the star family. Their product is a harmonised criteria catalogue for hotel classification, to provide the guest and hotelier more transparency and security. For detailed information please visit www.hotelstars.eu.
