Hotelstars Union prepares for revision process of criteria catalogue

Copenhagen - On the initiative of Jens Zimmer Christensen, the current President of the Hotelstars Union (HSU) and Chairman of the Danish association for the hotel, restaurant and tourism industry (HORESTA), a very productive working session was held in Copenhagen last week. The General Secretariat of the HSU, which is established in the Professional Hotel Association of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), was represented and the President was supported by experienced employees of HORESTA.

The Hotelstars Union is a strategic partnership and is providing a harmonised hotel classification with common criteria and procedures in the participating countries. The Hotelstars Union enhances the reputation and quality of the hotel industry in the participating countries by creating transparency and security for the guests and thereby encouraging and supporting hotel marketing.

With a view to the meeting of the HSU Managing Board to be held in Vienna at the end of April, the Presidium of the Hotelstars Union has set itself the goal of heralding the revision process of the list of criteria for 2020. The common hotel classification is a dynamic system whose criteria and guidelines are regularly revised and developed in line with guest expectations. Together with the General Secretariat, the most important issues at present were discussed and a common roadmap was drawn up. “It is particularly important to me to ensure the Hotelstars Union is ready and fit for the future and to position it strategically," emphasizes HSU President Jens Zimmer Christensen and concludes: “With Hotelstars Union the success story of the European Hotel Classification can continue for the benefit of present and new members.”
