A hotel garni is a hotel business which offers lodging, breakfast, drinks and smaller meals at most.
Hotels garni, boarding houses or bed and breakfast can only achieve 4 stars maximum. For hotels garni, boarding houses or bed and breakfast the minimum criteria »restaurant« and »meal service« are not applicable.
As it is usually impossible for a hotel garni to meet a sufficient total score in ordert to achieve a classification according to their facilities, these businesses require a lower number point regarding the necessary total score.

For the top establishments within a category the concept of »Superior« has been established as such offer a particularly high range of services.
Businesses entitled to add the Superior affix next to their stars, reach the total score of the necessary points of the next higher category but do not meet the minimum criteria of the next higher category.
So, businesses which have earned the addition »Superior« on their certificate are allowed to highlight that on their advertisement, as they have clearly overridden the required score for the respective category.
