21 member countries - one reliable system
Welcome to Hotelstars Union - The organisation for standardised hotel classifications in Europe. Since 2009, we have dedicated ourselves to establishing a transparent and reliable rating system for hotels that is applicable across national borders. What started as an initiative involving seven countries has now evolved into a robust network of 21 member states. We provide both hoteliers and guests with guidance and assurance through the use of common criteria and standards.
Our mission:
More clarity and trust for all players in the hotel industry through harmonised classification criteria across national borders.

Special Concepts
Discover that exceptional can also be certified.

Welcome to our new section “Special Concepts” – showcasing hotels that break the mold yet remain fully classifiable under the classification system.
We believe classification isn’t conservative and outdated, but flexible and evolving: standards are updated every five years via the Hotelstars Union.
These spotlighted properties prove that extraordinary architecture, innovative formats and unforgettable guest experiences fit just as well into the star framework.
